Nice - Cannes Marathon, 2012

This year on the 4th of November, Nice-Cannes Marathon was organized for the fifth time, whose slogan was "Yes, we Cannes, it's very Nice".
Despite the bad weather and the rain, 11,185 professionals and non professionals participated in the tournament from 58 countries. Several hundred people registered at the last moment, the reason was the cancelation of the New York Marathon. The 42.195 km race started at 8 am in Nice (La Baie des Anges) from where the participants run alongside the beach, so at the same time they could enjoyed the beautiful landscape. The exact route was: Nice, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes, Vallauris, then Cannes, where the finish was set in front of the Film Festival's building (Palais des Festivals).
Before the race, the experts believed that the fastest will be one of the Kenyan "springbok", and needless to say, they were right. The winner of the race is the Kenyan Eliud Magua with his 2h 10 m 32s. With that time he was not able to break the previous record of 2:08:40's. Immediately after him arrived the Kenyan William Biama (2:10:37), and Katui Kipkemio (2:13:14) also from Kenya. The French came to the finish in the seventh place, with the time of 2:18:02.
Among the womens the Ethiopian Aregu Lechisa done in the first place. Her time was 2:31:57. The French Camboulives Aline finished in the fourth place, her time was 2:38:49.
I think they deserve a big congratulation from us. Of course not just them, but all the participants. As the slogan says, yes, we can....and sure enough, they did it.

Ötödik alkalommal rendezték meg idén, november 4-én a Nice - Cannes Maratont, melynek szlogenje: "Yes, we Cannes, it's very Nice". A rossz idő, és az eső ellenére 58 országból, 11185 amarőr és hivatásos vett részt a versenyen. Több százan csak az utolsó pillanatban regisztráltak, ennek oka a New York-i maraton eltörlése volt.  A 42,195 km-es futam reggel 8 órakor indult Nizzából, a "La Baie des Anges"-tól, ahonnét végig a part mellett haladva, a résztvevők gyönyörködhettek a táj szépségében. A pontos útvonal Nizza, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer,Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes, Vallauris, majd Cannes, ahol a cél a Filmfesztivál épülete (Palais des festivals) előtt lett felállítva. A szakértők a leggyorsabbnak az "afrikai gazellák"-nak nevezett kenyaiakat vélték még a futam előtt, és mondanom sem kell, igazuk lett. A futam győztese a kenyai származású Eliud Magut lett, a maga 2 óra 10 perc 32 másodpercével s ezzel nem tudta megdönteni az eddigi 2:08:40-es rekordot. Közvetlenül utánna érkezett célba a kenyai William Biama (2:10:37), majd Katui Kipkemoi (2:13:14), szintén Kenyából. A francia Stephane Lefrand a hetedik helyen érkezett a célba, ideje 2:18:02. A nők közül az etióp Aregu Lechisa végzett az első helyen. Az ő ideje 2:31:57 volt. Negyedik helyen végzett a francia Aline Camboulives, ideje 2:38:49 lett. Mindehez csak gratulálni tudok. Persze nem csak nekik, de az összes résztvevőnek. Mint ahogy a szlogen is mondja, igen, mi meg tudjuk csinálni, és valóban, meg is csinálták.  

Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (Digne-les-Bains,Saint-André-de-Rosans)

Saint-André-de-Rosans and Digne-les-Bains, located in France, in the south-eastern part of the province Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. Digne is the capital of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence County. The city is the center of a small basin, in the middle of the Préalpes de Digne. Sparsely populated, but geologically interesting area, and therefore they made a protected geological districts near the city. The town's Geology Research Institute's role is major. There is a fountain spa near the town, where a modern bathroom hall was built over the past decade. In the surrounding gentler slopes we can find beautiful, vast lavender fields. It is interesting to mention that the "Route Napoleon" is passing through in the city, where in 1815 the first Emperor Napoleon's traveld to Paris, returning back from exile. And if we talk about Digne, and Napoleon, it absolutely deserves to mention the roman "Les Miserables" of Victor Hugo, because Digne is the town, where the bishop invite the protagonist -Jean Valjean- which invitation makes so much impact on his life.

Saint-André-de-Rosans és Digne-les-Bains Franciaország délkeleti részén, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur tartományban található. Digne, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence megye székhelye. A város egy kisebb medence központja, az Alpok előhegyei, a Préalpes de Digne közepén. Ritkán lakott, de geológiai értelemben érdekes vidék, ezért védett geológiai körzetet hoztak létre a város közelében, jelentős a városban működő Földtanai Kutatóintézet. A település közelében gyógyforrás fakad, melyre az elmúlt évtizedben modern fürdőcsarnok épült. A környező szelídebb lankákon hatalmas levendulamezők vannak. Érdekesség képpen említeném, hogy a városon halad keresztül a "Route Napoléon", az az útvonal, amelyen 1815-ben az első száműzetéséből visszatérő Napóleon császár Párizs felé utazott. S ha már Didne és Napoleon, akkor felétlenül említést érdemel Victor Hugo "Nyomorultak" című műve, melyben a főhőst -Jean Valjean- ebben a városban vendégeli meg a püspök, aki oly nagy hatással lesz további életére. 

Col de la Bonette

What could be nicer in this sweltering heat, than relaxing near the sea, swimming, sailing, diving ..... What could be better? I can tell you. A pleasant trip to the mountains, for example. And based on the proverb "if you have goose have it fat", why not Europe's highest walkable road could be to the target? I would like to present it to you now. The place itself is called the Col de la Bonette, with its 2,802 m.For those of you, who is planning to visit the south of France, or who is living here, its definitely recommend to visit at least once. Personally, I've been here before, but since my family came to visit me, I thought, this is a great opportunity to get back again to this beautiful place. It was a good idea, all of them were fascinated by the sight.The Col de la Bonette is located nearly 2-hour drive from Nice, in the Mercantour National Park, close to the Italian border. The road on the way is rich in sights. The landscape is changing proportionally with the height. At first all are green, then as we get higher and higher, the colors will change to yellow, brown and grey.  La Bonette is gray, it looks like we were walking on another planet. Here I want to mention that the road is not passable in winter, is closed because of the snow.At 2260 meters from the sea level, the road goes through in a small deserted "village", with its dilapidated houses. This place is the "Le Camp des Fourches" which was a military base long time ago. Built during the First World War, where hundreds of soldiers lived at the time, some of them even in tents.What surprised us in the way, is the lot of cyclists, who we met. I had no idea that this many people are able to take to the steep road bike. Not to mention that the vast majority of them are in the age close to retirement. Perhaps they are inspired by the Tour de France, which has gone through four times here, in 2008 the last time. Hats off to them, as they struggle themselves to the top. Of course, among them there was someone, who in the end could hardly breathe, which is not surprising, since I also have felt that there was less oxygen.

Mi lehet kellemesebb ilyen rekkenő hőségben, mint a tenger közelében strandolni, vitorlázni, búvárkodni.....Lehet ennél jobb? Bizony. Egy kellemes kirándulás a hegyekben, például. S "ha már lúd, legyen kövér" alapon miért ne Európa legmagasabb autóval járható útja legyen a cél? Ezt szeretném nektek most bemutatni. Maga a hely pedig nem más, mint a Col de la Bonette, a maga 2802 méterével.

Aki dél Franciaországba látogat, vagy itt él, annak feltétlenül ajánlom, hogy legalább egyszer látogasson el ide. Személy szerint én már jártam itt, de mivel a családom eljött meglátogatni, úgy gondoltam, ez egy remek alkalom arra, hogy ismét visszatérjek erre a csodálatos helyre. Jó ötlet volt, a látvány mindenkit lenyűgözött.

A Col de la Bonette közel 2 órás autóútra található Nizzától, a Mercantour National Parkban, közel az olasz határhoz.

Az odafelé vezető út is bővelkedik látványosságokban. A magassággal arányosan változik a táj. Eleinte minden zöld, majd ahogy egyre magasabbra jutunk, úgy változnak a színek. Kopárabb lesz minden, maga a La Bonette pedig szürke, mintha egy másik bolygón járnánk. Itt jegyezném meg, hogy az út télen nem járható, le van zárva a hó miatt.

2260 méter magasságban az út keresztülmegy egy elhagyatott kis falucskán, a maga romos házaival. Ez a hely a "Le Camp des Fourches", ami egy katonai bázis volt hajdanán. Az első világháború alatt épült, akkoriban több száz katona élt itt, többen sátrakban.

Ami meglepett az út folyamán, az a rengeteg biciklis, akikkel találkoztunk. Nem gondoltam volna, hogy ennyien képesek nekivágni ennek a meredek útnak biciklivel. Arról nem is beszélve, hogy a nagytöbbségük a nyugdíjhoz közel jár. Talán a Tour de France ihlette meg őket, ami már négy alkalommal is keresztül ment itt, utoljára 2008-ban. Mindenesetre le a kalappal előttük, ahogy felkűzdötték magukat a csúcsra. Persze akadt köztük olyan is, aki a végén már alig kapott levegőt, ami nem csoda, hiszen én is éreztem, hogy ott már kevesebb az oxigén. Szó mi szó, lenyűgöző látványban volt részünk.
